It spans a total area of 2,000 rai (320 hectares) and serves multiple purposes, such as water storage for consumption, fish breeding and hosting tourism-related activities. The reservoir accommodates a range of activities, including traditional long-boat racing, international boat racing contests, the hosting of the Southeast Asian Games, and serving as a designated training site for the Thai Rowing Association.
